Opening of the exhibition “The World in 35mm” – The curtain rises on the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Hermoupolis at the Industrial Museum.

The Municipality of Syros–Hermoupolis, in collaboration with the Association of the Friends of the Ermoupolis Technological Culture Centre (KETEPO), invites you to the exhibition “The World in 35, 16, 8 mm… Cinema in 20th-Century Syros”, the opening of which will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 19:00, at the temporary exhibitions hall (6) of the Industrial Museum.

The exhibition is the first official event of the celebratory program marking 200 years since the naming of Hermoupolis. Through rare archival material, projection machines, and period artifacts, visitors of the exhibition have the opportunity to explore the early days of the big screen in Greece and discover the rich cinematic history of Syros, an island that has always been at the forefront of arts and culture.

As the inaugural event of this anniversary year, the exhibition marks the beginning of a series of cultural happenings that will unfold throughout 2026, highlighting Hermoupolis as a timeless center of Hermes and his roles as Scholar and Merchant.
