The museum’s technical library

A significant guardian of both local history and the industrial development of Greece and beyond, the Museum also hosts an impressive, specialized library.

This Technical Library, formed through generous donations, covers various branches of industry—tanning, textiles, cotton processing, spinning, and more—as well as technical education. Visitors can find this valuable collection on the upper floor of the Katsimantis building, in the same space that houses the “Loukoumi” exhibition.
Among its most notable components are the book collections donated by tanners Menelaos Kornilakis and the company Dendrinos & Koutsi, chemical engineer Faidon Kontopoulos, textile manufacturer Leontas Dounias, and shipwright Konstantinos Filippou.
The Technical Library of the Industrial Museum of Hermoupolis also includes several foreign-language editions, particularly distinguished German and French works from the early 20th century.
